Peer review process

ÑAWI: ARTE, DISEÑO Y COMUNICACIÓN is a refereed magazine that is governed by the double-blind anonymous peer review system.

The articles sent by the authors are previously evaluated by the Drafting Committee to check if they comply with the publishing rules and thematic policies of the journal.

When the article passes this first filter, it is sent to two external evaluators who are experts in the subject addressed by the author. To comply with and defend the ethics of research, these evaluators are never part of the institution to which the author belongs. They decide whether it responds to the scientific interests of the journal and on whether it is published. In the final assessment, the reviewers decide between the following options: publishable, publishable with minor modifications, publishable with major modifications, or non-publishable. If there is disparity of opinion between reviewers of the Scientific Committee, it will be submitted to the judgment of a third expert, who will resolve the conflict of opinions.

In the link Reviewer's Guide, the evaluation process to be followed by the assigned blind pairs is detailed step by step.

Ethics and Good Practices

The authors who submit their texts to the evaluation process will not pay for the work of this evaluation, which will be carried out by the members of the Editorial Board and / or Scientific Committee of the journal. Likewise, reviewers (blind peers) will never charge for their work.

The journal ÑAWI: ARTE, DISEÑO Y COMUNICACIÓN defends an academic practice far from inbreeding. For this reason, the texts approved for each issue will be external by at least 70%. In other words, 70% of the published works must come from professors and researchers outside the publishing entity and the ESPOL.

In addition, expecting to maintain a standard within the percentages distributed between scientific articles and spaces for other open-ended publications or interviews, as of Vol. 6 No.1, ÑAWI maintains a standard of at least ten scientific articles, in addition to including an editorial, a miscellaneous, and an interview, or an editorial and two miscellaneous. With this, it is obtained that of all the topics published in a volume, at least 75% correspond to scientific texts.

Likewise, ÑAWI: ARTE, DISEÑO Y COMUNICACIÓN stands for the non-predatory nature of scientific publications, mainly regarding possible payments for publishing or excessive self-quotes.

The opinions, interpretations, reflections, and information provided in each article are the sole responsibility of their authors. The Editorial Board and the Scientific Committee of the journal are not responsible, in any case, for the credibility and authenticity of the works. When sending a text for evaluation by the journal, the author alone is responsible for ensuring that all its contents are original and that they have the corresponding authorizations for their reproduction. The journal requires sending a certificate of originality when a text is submitted for revision, which must be sent to the general editorial email address of the journal: polo@espol.edu.ec

By submitting the article, the author expressly states that, in the case of co-authorship, all authors are aware of and agree with the content and with the submission to the journal for evaluation. In cases of multiple authorship (more than five authors), an annex must be sent justifying the insertion of several authors and their responsibilities in the text, signed by each of them. The editorial board reserves the right to verify sources and to adapt the graphic information to the editorial requirements of the journal. The articles will be submitted to a peer review (double blind) arbitration process. The identity of the referees will always be protected, and under no circumstances may this identity be revealed. The editor will guarantee, in the same way, that the arbitrators do not know the identity or affiliation of the authors submitted to arbitration. Of course, the acceptance or rejection of an article will only attend to epistemological criteria related to the importance, the originality, and the clarity of the writing, as well as its relevance regarding the subject area of the journal.

The author undertakes that once the arbitration process has begun, he will not withdraw the text for its publication in another journal. The content of the documents sent for evaluation is the responsibility of the author / s. In case of acceptance, the author agrees to send a certificate of transfer of rights to the journal.
