Abstract

This monograph is a continuation of the one published in January 2023. By presenting the second part, with new articles on the same subject, we reaffirm the need to problematize and complexify the notion of academic-scientific writing. We invite with the different contributions that appear in it, to open the game to other ways of writing in academic spaces and transit to the permeable and porous borders that supposedly “separate” the field of art, the field of fiction, and the field of science. We advocate meta-reflexive writing, and we assume as a fundamental premise what Natalia Calderón García and Fernando Hernández and Hernández pointed out in their work “Artistic Research. A Space for disruptive knowledge in the Arts and the University” (2019) when they state they that such writing is “critical of its own means of representation and modes of knowledge construction”. We are driven by the conviction that the semiotic formats and resources used in academic inquiry and communication have an impact on the findings and the processes that are linked to the epistemic potential of writing. We conceive all writings as a locus where complex practices operate that legitimize certain discourses and silence others. Therefore, we assume the need to critically review generic conventions. It is about exploring audiovisual formats, digital platforms, autofiction or the narrative of the collective, as a strategy to recover the contingency and to travel dissident paths.
