Ñawi is an academic and scientific research journal created in 2017. It is published biannually, with regular volumes published in January and July, with the alternative of presenting one or two additional special volumes per year on specific topics. Ñawi is linked to the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL), a public university in the Republic of Ecuador, specifically to the Faculty of Art, Design and Audiovisual Communication (FADCOM). Academic and scientific works are published that address the study of Art, Design, or Visual and Audiovisual Communication from a critical and reflective perspective. Complementarily, it is open to the reception of articles in the different branches of the Social Sciences and the Humanities (Sociology, Political Sciences, Anthropology, Aesthetics, Semiotics, History, and Philosophy), provided that they handle problems related to Art, Communication, Aesthetics or Design, paying special attention to realities linked to Latin America, without this implying that other regions of the world are discarded. Since July 2023, articles related to the creative world of brands are also published, reflecting on their design and management. This universe deserves to be included in Ñawi, as there is an aesthetic and semiotic dimension to be explored. For this reason, from the date mentioned above, in each of its regular volumes, we present dedicated to this subject. Our journal aims to become a reference in the Ecuadorian and Latin American academic world. Ñawi is an open-access journal, which uses external blind peer review, and the editorial process is free.
